About Me
Hey, I'm Giles. I am a 22-year-old freelance Software Engineer focused on Financial Technology. Born and raised in the United Kingdom, I relocated to Southeast Asia six months ago to pursue new opportunities with my family. I graduated from the University of Buckingham in the UK, with a first-class honours in Economics with Applied Computing (Econ) BSc. Whilst I have great practical skills, I pride myself on my technical communication and ability to communicate my ideas. My experiences teaching Computing and working in a student bar helped me develop my skills beyond a computer, helping me to excel at conveying my thoughts and opinions in a collaborative environment. This is also one of the reasons I chose to major in Economics over Computing, as it allowed me to have a more rounded base of knowledge and experience such as Mathematics, Philosophy, and Business. I have also pursued more technical aspects, having spent over 8 years learning different technologies through the education system, and around six months using those at a professional level. My most recent experience, doing work for a Singapore-based market maker and trading company, led me to prove my abilities by producing a great piece of financial software which you can view on my portfolio page. I love problem-solving and this is reflected in my hobbies, which include cryptography and cybersecurity. I regularly use Hack the Box to put my abilities to the test, have completed a course in Cyber Security, and also taught it. My other hobbies include cooking and working out which display my creativity and discipline through my daily life.
